EastEnders fans convinced they know who new Queen Vic landlord will be ahead of Danny Dyer's exit | The Sun

EASTENDERS fans think they have figured out the next landlord of the Queen Vic as Mick Carter will leave later this year.

The pub landlord (Danny Dyer) has been behind the bar in the iconic pub since 2013.

BBC bosses have confirmed his exit – but who will be taking over?

Some fans think the return of Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) means he might be back in the Queen Vic.

Last time he was the owner in 2010 he was with Kat Slater.

Would he buy back the pub in a bid to win back his ex-wife?

One fan said: “Maybe Alfie Moon could come back with a few quid under his belt and buy the pub to try and win Kat back. Whatever happens, it’s going to be interesting.”

Another wrote: “A lot of people are saying that’s why they’re bringing him back, so they can break Kat and Phil up and get Kat and Alfie running the Vic.”

A third penned: “#EastEnders I think it’s time for @realshanerichie to come back as Alfie and run the Queen Vic!”

Shane is going to reprise his role as the loveable rogue for the first time in more than three years.

The actor, 58, said: "It's an absolute honour and privilege to be asked back to my TV home of Albert Square.

"I'm looking forward to catching up with some old castmates and meeting some new ones.

"The new exec producer, Chris Clenshaw, has been instrumental in wanting to bring Alfie Moon back with some wonderful storylines… and who am I to say no? I can't wait."

Alfie fled Walford and EastEnders in January 2019, making an enemy of Steve McFadden's Phil Mitchell in the process.

Executive producer Chris Clenshaw said: "Shane Richie created one of the most iconic, loveable and most memorable characters in soap, and to welcome him back to Walford is an absolute pleasure.

"A lot's happened since Alfie's been away from the Square, but wherever his floral shirts go you can expect fun, frolics and, of course, the odd porky-pie."

He added with a pun: "We're over the moon to have him home."
