KNOWN for portraying Keegan Baker, Zack Morris is getting ready to wave goodbye to Albert Square.

The announcement has agitated EastEnders fans, some of them convinced Maisie Smith will reprise her own role ahead of his exit.

Tiffany Butcher left Walford after 13 years to go to Germany before the festive period.

Her last appearance was aired on BBC One on December 14, 2021.

The influencer turned away from the borough in dramatic circumstances as she handed over an envelope containing a letter and divorce papers to her husband Keegan Baker.

This gave him the chance to meet her at the tube if he wanted to work on their marriage.

He also had the choice to simply sign the divorce papers if he wanted their separation to be official.

Unfortunately, her brother Liam meddled and took out the heartfelt letter she had written, leaving only the divorce papers and Tiffany's half of their jigsaw necklace.

Keegan was duped and never showed up at the Walford tube station, leading Tiffany to believe he no longer loved her without ever knowing what Liam had done.

But fans of the long-running soap are now convinced actress Maisie Smith will be coming back to the programme in the role of Tiffany.

Some viewers swarmed over to social media hoping that Tiffany would show up again before her on-screen husband leaves Walford.

"I'm hoping that Keegan's exit will finally give me the Tiffany Butcher closure I've wanted for two months", one viewer commented.

A second penned: "I hope we see Tiffany for his last episode or it sets him off to go find her."

"Could Keegan finally decide his marriage might actually still be worth saving after all and actually follow Tiffany to Germany potentially?", a third chimed in, adding: "forget the bloody letter Liam totally faked."

"Hopefully Tiffany can return to usher Keegan off", wrote another fan.

A fifth went on: "I hope they reunite him and Tiffany before he leaves."

Others believed that Keegan should have left with Tiffany in the first place.

"Why did Keegan not just leave with Tiffany then?", one viewer angrily wrote while another jumped in: "he should have left with Tiffany."

Actor Zack Morris confirmed he would be leaving EastEnders after five years and is reportedly approached TV bosses with his decision last year.

His exit storyline is expected to have a link with Gray Atkins' downfall as the truth about the death of Keegan's half-sister Chantelle comes to light.

Gray should be exposed to the Taylor family in March, 2022.

Zack said: "after five beautiful years on this incredible show, I have made the tough decision to leave Walford and give Keegan Butcher-Baker some well-earned rest."

"This show has quite frankly changed my life for the better", he added.

Zack's final scenes are said to be filmed this week with an air date scheduled to be confirmed in the spring.

But will Maisie follow in Kellie Bright's footsteps and come back to Walford amid all the drama?
