Eamonn Holmes slams ‘dimwit nerd’ who is causing drone chaos at Gatwick Airport
Eamonn Holmes had an angry rant at a "dimwit nerd" who was ruining flights for hundreds of thousands of people at Gatwick Airport.
The presenter of This Morning had just spoken to the travel correspondent Simon Calder, and he discussed the fact that the aviation authority should take "responsibility," before he started ranting about the person who runs the drone and has been causing so many issues.
He said: "Certainly the Civil Aviation Authority have a duty of care as well when it comes to exclusion zones around airports. It’s absolutely ridiculous.
"And we shouldn’t lose sight of the fact that it isn’t the airline’s fault. It’s the airport’s fault, it’s the Civial Aviation Authority’s fault and it is whoever the crakcpot, halfwit, dimwit nerd, who is operating this drone.
"It surprises me they didn’t just fly through it, but this time of year it’s always inconvenient travelling at this time of year."
At this, Ruth Langsford joins in, saying: "But it’s more poignant as people are trying to get home for Christmas."
Earlier in the segment, he also blasted the airport for their response to the crisis which has left hundreds of thousands of people trying to find a way to get to their Christmas destinations.
He said: "What a pathetic response there’s been from Gatwick Airport to this whole thing and so many of you have been asking, ‘Why don’t you shoot it out of the sky?’
"Gatwick have said today they have measures in place, they’ve not said what those are but obviously that would…"
He was then cut off by a strange noise from his wife, and ended his comments there before going back to Simon at the airport.
The runway at Gatwick has now reopened, but many are not expected to get to where they hope to go for at least a few days.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
