E4 voiceover pokes fun at Steph Davis's love life with toyboy Owen Warner – leaving fans in hysterics

The cheeky announcer gave viewers the laugh after her character Sinead O'Connor's husband Laurie Shelby (Kyle Pryor) stormed off after discovering she used to be a prostitute at the end of last night's show.

As the credits began to roll, the voiceover mocked: "And there was me thinking it was Romeo she was interested in."

Fans of the actress would have picked up that he was poking fun at the Celebrity Big Brother star's romance with Owen – who plays Romeo Quinn in the soap.

Those who did catch on to the remark were quick to praise it on social media.

One fan said: "Did the E4 guy just shade Stephanie Davis for dating a 19 year old? I'm in tears.  #Hollyoaks."

Another joked: "The SHADE… OMG! Can’t believe he actually mocked Stephanie for dating a teenager."

A third said: "The voice over man saying 'and there was me thinking it was Romeo she was into' at the end of hollyoaks when Sinead ran after Laurie made me laugh more than it probably should of."

One simply wrote: "The sassy E4 announcer  #Hollyoaks."

Stephanie confirmed her romance with Owen at the Hollyoaks Christmas party in Liverpool over the weekend.

The Sun Online recently revealed that the actress had fallen head over heels for her co-star.

A source said: “Steph and Owen became friends when she returned to Hollyoaks but in recent weeks it’s turned into a romance.

“It’s well known among the cast that they’re dating but it’s very early days for them both.”
