Dying Lola devastated as she's given more heartbreaking news in EastEnders
Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) was left in tears in EastEnders after a trip to see a specialist doctor ended with more heartbreaking news.
The hairdresser was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour last month, after she had a seizure and ended up in hospital.
Subsequent scenes saw her undergo surgery, hoping to have the tumour removed, but the operation proved unsuccessful and thus doctors informed her that her condition is terminal.
Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden), meanwhile, has been determined to give Lola the best shot of survival, agreeing to sell the Arches to use the funds for experimental treatments or clinical trials.
Lola is incredibly grateful, and Tuesday’s (December 20) offering of the serial drama saw her go to a specialist doctor with Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) and Ben by her side.
But there was ultimately more heartbreak in store for her.
The specialist revealed that it’s simply too early for any potential drugs or trials, adding that they need to wait and see the effects of the current treatment plan.
‘It’s so natural to cling on to hope,’ said the specialist.
‘If I were in your place Lola, I’d be doing exactly the same thing. But there are very rarely miracle cures in this case.’
Lola was devastated, struggling to hold back the tears as she left his office.
Afterwards, she returned home with Jay and Ben, who both had trouble getting their head around the news, as they promised to enjoy life and Christmas as a family.
EastEnders continues Thursday December 22 at 7:30pm on BBC One.
