Does Kate Gosselin From 'Jon & Kate Plus 8' Have Friends?
Viewers loved Jon and Kate Gosselin when their infamous TLC show first aired over a decade ago. Fans watched the biographical series Jon & Kate Plus 8 as it followed the couple and their sets of twins and sextuplets, and we got an in-depth look into how they navigate life with their huge family. It wasn’t long before the show turned into just Kate Plus 8, however. Jon and Kate’s messy split and highly-publicized divorce made its way into the public media — and even today they’re still dealing with custody battles over the kids.
A lot has been said about both Jon and Kate over the years, and it seems the public has totally turned their back on Kate, too. Does she have any friends left? Here’s what’s been said.

Those close to Kate have spoken out over the years — and Radar Online notes one of Kate’s best friends, Beth Carson, explained back in 2014 why she stopped associating with Kate. Fans may remember Beth and Bob Carson when they were featured on Jon & Kate Plus 8 — but after a certain point in production, viewers never saw them again. And Beth told the publication that’s because Kate tried to take all the credit and money from Multiple Blessings, a book the two of them worked on together.
“We agreed on a 50/50 split and it was fair, although I did do all the writing, absolutely, did all the writing … it was without a doubt Kate’s story,” Beth told Radar Online. “She told me the story and I wrote it. Absolutely, I wanted to take nothing away from the fact that it was her story. But I put a lot of work into it.” Unfortunately for Beth, Jon was then added to the cover and noted as an author instead of her. Beth claimed Kate tried to get her name completely removed from the process.
Beth eventually received 50% of the cut as was promised, but her relationship with Kate was never the same. “That was sort of the last straw, it was a smack in the face,” she said. And after that, she stopped speaking to Kate.

Beth wasn’t the only one to speak about Kate’s wrongdoings. Kate’s sister, Kendra, has also said that Kate has completely cast away all of her close family and friends, Daily Mail Online reports. Kendra came forward with this information the same year as Beth did. And she further explained that Kate started leaving her family and friends behind once the fame and publicity started going to her head. “I guess we weren’t totally on board with what was going on with the kids,” Kendra said. “I guess we weren’t excited enough for her and were concerned about her family.”
Daily Mail Online also reported another former friend of Kate’s, who preferred to remain nameless, said none of Kate’s original inner circle of friends wanted to be associated with her after a certain point. Even her bodyguard, Steve Neild, stopped working for the star and instead moved back to Maryland.

Kendra’s report was incredibly telling — but she’s not the only family member who reportedly no longer associates with Kate. Her brother, Kevin, and his wife, Jodi, were featured on the TLC show a few times before eventually losing all contact with Kate and suing her for the “psychological damage” they thought the production was giving the eight kids. The case was eventually settled, but Kate then went out of her way to slam Kevin and Jodi for making money off of their complaints.
“Spending time in court and gallivanting to New York to complain about me … couldn’t he be at home with his kids?” Kate allegedly said of Kevin. “I guess the money has run out because they are out complaining again. The truth is I haven’t allowed them to see my kids in two years.” We’re guessing nothing was resolved between Kate and her family and friends over the years, either.
