Doctor Who will be returning with a bang as the Revolution of the Daleks episode comes to air on New Year’s Day. The instalment will see Yaz (played by Mandip Gill), Ryan (Tosin Cole) and Graham (Bradley Walsh) have to remedy the oncoming threat of the Daleks without the help of The Doctor (Jodie Whittaker). And as Yaz steps up, it seems she will have a more permanent role as she remains by The Doctor’s side – with star Mandip Gill teasing an increase in confidence for her alter-ego.

Fans got their first taste of the Christmas special last month when a minute-long trailer was released.

The clip teased Captain Jack Harkness’ (John Barrowman) highly-anticipated return, as the companions have to adjust to life without The Doctor.

And someone else who will step up is Yaz, who has emerged as perhaps the most committed of the three.

She will remain onboard the TARDIS after the special episode whilst Graham and Ryan will have to say some sad goodbyes.
