Dermot O'Leary says he's 'happy to be out the house' hosting This Morning in first TV appearance since becoming a dad

DERMOT O'Leary cheekily admitted he was "happy" to be out of the house as he hosted his first TV show since becoming a dad one month ago.

The telly favourite, 47,  and his wife Dee Koppang welcomed their son Kasper into the world on June 23 and Dermot made his small screen return to front ITV's This Morning today.

He burst onto the daytime TV show and said to his co-host: "Hey! How are you doing?" before bumping elbows with her.

Rochelle, who is pregnant with her third child, said to the X Factor presenter: "We are inside, and with air con, which is brilliant.

"I'm just happy to be out of the house!"

Laughing in response, Dermot quipped: "Me too!"

Rochelle then added that his baby was struggling sleeping, hence the need for a little temporary escape.

As well as returning to prime time TV with a new addition to his family, Dermot also made a comeback with a new look.

Fans were quick to note his darker brunette hairstyle, which looked packed with volume.

One quipped: "Why is Dermot wearing an Elvis wig?"

Another celebrated: "First time we’ve seen Dermot on telly since 2016?" followed by an Emoji face with tears of joy #ThisMorning."

A third celebrated his new look and put: "Yay Fridays show has improved this week #Dermot #ThisMorning."

Dermot has previously spoken out about his two month old's trouble sleeping as he gushed about life as a new dad.

Speaking on his BBC 2 radio show this month Dermot talked about life as a father during a chat with his guest James Bay.

When James asked the radio host how it was going, Dermot replied: "Oh he is brilliant, we are having a great time. That sort of lovely foggy period of sleepless love. Just wake up and go 'hey, this guy'.

"Every now and again you hear noises and think, 'what is that noise?' and then you're like, 'oh that is my son. Is that a cat? No, that's our child'," he joked.

Dermot's insight into fatherhood comes after he revealed his son's name during his show and, before playing the track One Day Like This by Elbow, Dermot told listeners: "My lovely son came into the world ten days ago accompanied by Guy Garvey's Elbow.

"So forgive this moment of brief self-indulgence while we play the song that accompanied that. This is for you Kasper with a K – my wife is very insistent on that."
