Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary took over This Morning’s presenting duties today, stepping in for regulars Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield. In their popular Spin to Win segment of the show, the presenters call regular viewers who have to pick up the phone and say the day’s passcode for a chance to win some cash. However, today it all went south when no-one picked up the phone.

After their first call didn’t go through and the second one went straight to voicemail, the presenters started to lose hope that anyone would even answer.

“Next caller, we are dialling you,” said Alison as Dermot stood by.

“Here we go, I wonder who is going to be it today,” she continued. “I wonder if we are actually going to have anyone.”

Meanwhile, Dermot was leaning onto a chair while waiting for someone to pick up.

However, the next person answered with “hello” instead of the passphrase so they didn’t get a chance to spin for money.

“Caller number three, sorry,” apologised Alison.

On the side, Dermot had picked up the chair he was holding and threw it across the stage in a jokey fit of rage.

“Babes, calm down!” said Alison, shocked by the apparent anger her colleague was showing.

She quickly moved on though: “Let’s go for caller number four. Come on, say today’s passphrase.”

“People are going to want to win this money,” she added, eager for someone to finally pick up and say the right words.

As the phone kept ringing and Dermot realised what he had done, he bowed down to pick up the placemat the had fallen on the ground.

After dealing with that “massive doily” he composed himself and joined Alison’s little dance to the waiting music.

The fourth caller finally picked up and said the phrase correctly so they got a chance to win some money.
