Demi Lovato thanks fans and doctors who ‘saved her life’ on two-year anniversary of near-fatal drug overdose – The Sun
DEMI Lovato has spoken out on the day she was rushed to hospital with a near-fatal drug overdose, calling the anniversary her "miracle day."
A day after the singer revealed she was engaged to be married to boyfriend Max Ehrich, the star opened up on how she has changed her outlook from the past two years, thanking doctors who "saved her life."
Demi wrote: "Today is my miracle day. I'm so blessed to have one. It represents how the doctors at Cedars Sinai saved my life. How my life has become something beyond my wildest dreams.
"Only two years after that terrible day I am engaged to the love of my life, and I can genuinely say I feel free of my demons.
"Each and every one."
She went on: "I never thought this feeling was possible. And it's not just because I feel in love (although that didn't hurbut because over the past two years, I've done more to work on myself than I have in my entire life."
Demi relapsed in spring 2018 after six years of being sober, before being taken to the hospital that July following an overdose.
The 27-year-old, who has never gone into full detail about her near-fatal overdose, which completely changed her life, said: "Things that used to keep me down for weeks or even months pass like tropical storms because my relationship with God has provided me infinite security.
"Long before I had an engagement ring on my ring finger I had the word me to remind myself that no matter what, I vow to love myself.
You can't fully love another without loving yourself first. Thank you God for this peace and understanding but most of all giving me the strength to fight through my darkest times.
"Thank you to my family friends and fans for always supporting me and respecting my privacy regarding this journey. I love you all."
The couple became Instagram official back in March when Demi accidentally crashed Max's Instagram Live session.
The Disney Channel alum walked up to her man to drape a blanket around his shoulders and did not pick up that he was live streaming to his one million followers.
“I’m on live! I’m on live,” the soap star mouthed before Demi realized what had happened and walked out of frame, laughing.
Sources claimed they began dating several weeks before and have been isolating at Demi's mansion in lockdown.
Back in April, sources revealed Max was planning to pop the question to Demi when lockdown was over.
