Deal or No Deal fans beg for new format as Stephen Mulhen pulls ‘clever’ trick

Deal or No Deal fans have asked ITV bosses to switch up the format of the game show after Stephen Mulhern pulled some "clever" tricks at the start of the programme.

The hit game show made its return once again to ITV on Wednesday (December 13), with another contestant hoping to win big in the box. But before the lucky contestant was chosen, host Stephen was quick to welcome viewers by chatting to those waiting in the wings.

One of the contestants Mulhern spoke to was Tyreece, a new addition to the show. Before the game began, Stephen let viewers at home know that Tyreece had a secret talent up his sleeve, and that he would be putting him on the spot to demonstrate it.

"Yesterday, Tyreece said we would have a trick-off," Stephen explained. "He told us that he does magic, which I never knew…," to which Tyreece himself gingerly replied: "I was hoping you wouldn't remember that."

Tyreece then pulled out a deck of cards and proceeded to pull a card trick on Stephen, where he correctly guessed that the card that Stephen had chosen was the Ace of Diamonds. The remaining contestants were left impressed when they saw that Tyreece's magic trick had been successfully pulled off.

However, Stephen – who initially came to fame when he starred on Trick TV in the late 1990s, was quick to hit back with his own trick. He went on to carry out the same trick, using mentalism and a separate contestant, which also worked out well.

Fans watching the tricks being played at home were left astounded at the talent both men had for magic. Many took to social media to try and work out how the tricks were pulled off.

One user watching the programme said: "We need a daily dose of Stephen Mulhern magic tricks in every show if it gets a second series." Whilst a second viewer was left confused at how the trick was done: "Now how in the heckins did he do that one, simple but very clever!!"

A third fan of the show was also left perplexed: "I love this show so much, it's amazing!" Whilst a fourth person was just bewildered by the segment: "How did they do that??"

Deal or No Deal airs every weekday at 4pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
