Dancing on Ice’s Hamish returns to the show after explosive Caprice drama

Dancing on Ice professional Hamish Gaman made a welcome return to the show last night, one week after his ex-partner Caprice Bourret quit.

The 36-year-old appeared alongside pro figure skater Vanessa Bauer for a spectacular performance, skating in harmony with Ludovico Einaudi's Primavera.

Captivated by the performance, Phillip Schofield's co-presenter Holly Willoughby labelled it as "beautiful and mind-blowing".

Sharing a snap with Vanessa over Twitter, Hamish said: "Ice skating is my happy place and I love that I get to share this with you all."

Taking to Twitter, DOI viewers were chuffed to see Hamish return to the ice, in the wake of his controversial split from former partner Caprice.

One said: "Such a beautiful 'half time' skate @dancingonice by @HamishGaman & @TheVanessaBauer, Hamish always seemed a lovely person & find choreographer & it was a shame he was taken out of #DancingOnIce so I'm relieved they've stood by him & still use him."

A second added: "Such a beautiful dance routine from @HamishGaman and Vanessa. I loved it. It's lovely to see Hamish on the ice again tonight and I hope he'll get a much better celebrity partner next year."

While a third chipped in: "@dancingonice Vanessa and Hamish have me chills! Absolutely stunning performance! #DancingOnIce."

Caprice left the show last weekend, just one week after her unexpected separation from Brit skater Hamish.

The two were originally paired together on the show, but Holly announced they had "parted ways" without explanation.

Caprice was later matched with a brand-new pro skater but opted out of the series within days.

A spokeswoman for Caprice reportedly told Mail Online: "It's true that Caprice is no longer participating in Dancing On Ice. It's been a hard few months and she's had to keep silent for contractual reasons.

"Her mental wellbeing has been affected over the last two months and recent stories leaked to the press are not only salacious but extremely hurtful.

"Now she's taking some time to recover and look after herself and her family."

Dancing on Ice airs on Sundays at 6pm on ITV
