Dancing On Ice’s H and Matt make massive vow together ahead of the show’s final

Dancing on Ice star Ian 'H' Watkins has made a huge vow ahead of the talent show final.

The former Steps star, 43, is more than determined to win the show with his partner Matt Evers and become the first same-sex couple to do the Bolero in the final.

He plans to make history by performing Torvill and Dean's famous Olympic winning skate for the first time, according to The Sun.

Despite being left in the bottom two on Sunday night's show, H is determined to win the season with a rendition of one of the most famous skating dances in history, but the task doesn't seem to phase him in the least.

Speaking about the possibility of re-mastering the iconic dance, the 'Tragedy' singer admitted that it's become a dream of his.

"My dream is for two guys to do the bolero. My ultimate dream. The iconic dance."

H's dance partner Matt thinks that it's a doable task, and is something which could win the pair the title.

"I want to win this. I have done the bolero before with Suzanne Shaw, then I did it again with Jorgie Porter, so to do it with H would be the icing on the cake."

He continued: "It's progression, they won the Olympics back in '84 with the bolero, and now we're in 2020."

The pair are the trailblazers in being the first same-sex pairing to compete on UK television, in a move that has seen Dancing on Ice beat its closest BBC rival Strictly.

The pairing provided an opportunity to change perceptions of the gay community once and for all, but according to the singer, not everyone was supportive of the brave move.

Speaking to The Sun previously, Ian admitted that he had previously asked senior BBC bosses for a male dancing partner while starring on Tumble in 2014, but they refused his plea.

"I asked for a same-sex partner and they said, ‘No, the BBC doesn’t do that — it’s not us" he recalled.

However, after his ground-breaking debut Dancing On Ice performance, the 43-year-old revealed that he received a cryptic message from a senior staff member at BBC rival Strictly Come Dancing which insinuated that a same-sex couple pairing would have happened eventutally.

"The message simply read: "You should have waited for us".

Although his request was turned down back in 2014, 'H' knew that if he was going to take part in Dancing On Ice, he wouldn't take no for an answer this time.

He insisted: "If they had said no, I would have pulled out because it means so much to me."

The 'Tragedy' hit-maker has appeared on a number of reality TV shows, but insisted that his Dancing On Ice stint was more of a social cause than a personal one, in that he was determined to break the stigmas which still surround the gay community.

During his debut dance with partner Matt, over 4.5 million viewers tuned in, and out of those, only 16 people complained to Ofcom regarding the same-sex couple.
