What is Cursed on Netflix about?
Cursed on Netflix is based on the illustrated young adult novel of the same name by Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler.
The series is a coming-of-age story, following the adventures of Nimue (played by Katherine Langsford), who is destined to become the Lady of the Lake.
The Lady of the Lake is an enchantress from medieval literature, who is famously associated with the legendary King Arthur (Devon Terrell).
According to medieval accounts and romances, King Alfred defended Britain against Saxon invaders in the late 5th and 6th century.
Just like the novel, Cursed tells the story of King Arthur from the perspective of the Lady of the Lake.
The official Netflix synopsis for the series reads: “Based on the upcoming book of the same name, Cursed is a re-imagining of the Arthurian legend, told through the eyes of Nimue, a teenage heroine with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the powerful (and tragic) Lady of the Lake.
“After her mother’s death, she finds an unexpected partner in Arthur, a young mercenary, in a quest to find Merlin and deliver an ancient sword.
“Over the course of her journey, Nimue will become a symbol of courage and rebellion against the terrifying Red Paladins, and their complicit King Uther (Sebastian Armesto).”
