Corrie actor teases ‘dangerous’ Gary Windass twists amid ‘upsetting’ scenes

Coronation Street actor Mikey North, who plays Gary Windass on the ITV soap, has teased there's "twists" on the way.

The character's keeping two killer secrets, after he murdered villain Rick Neelan and caused the factory roof collapse that killed Rana Habeeb.

But Mikey has hinted there could be more characters in danger, amid fears he will murder Ryan Connor in upcoming scenes.

He revealed Gary was "dangerous" and shouldn't be messed with, while also adding the villain's latest plot is set for new twists and turns.

Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, following his four nominations ahead of the publication's 2019 awards, Mikey revealed what lied ahead.

He said: "Garry will carry on getting away with things for a while yet, but there’s a lot of twists coming.

"His mind is warped into thinking he can walk over anyone – he has nothing to lose, so he’s scared of nobody!"

He added: "Derek will play a big part in Gary’s world for a bit, and the problems with Ryan and Adam will continue. There’s also a new romance in the pipeline, which might spark Gary back to reality.

"Apart from his kids, he’s not got a lot to live for. And that’s what makes him dangerous, I think…”

Mikey also admitted one particular scene from Gary's dark antics left him "upset", and he's yet to watch it back.

He said: "There was a scene I did with Tina [O’Brien, aka Sarah] in the Platt house, where Gary pins Sarah up against the wall – that sent me to places which physically help you as an actor.

"You don’t really want to be there for too long, as it was quite upsetting to do. It was definitely a highlight, but I’ve not actually watched the scene back yet…”

On his nominations, he added: "It’s always nice to know that the work you’ve put in is being appreciated – so it’s a privilege. You can never read too much into it but whichever way you look at it, it’s nice. Gary’s life has changed so much, which has been really fun to play. And there’s a lot more to come…”

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
