Coronation Street’s Billy and Paul split fears after fancy dress display

Coronation Street spoilers have revealed that there is more trouble on the horizon for Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) and Paul Foreman (Peter Ash).

After a night working on the helpline, Paul can barely keep his eyes open at work.

While he nips to the toilet, Billy's cunning ex Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) swaps the delivery boxes meant for the hospital.

When boss Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) tears a strip off Paul for sending out the wrong order to the hospital, Paul tells her to stick to her job and marches off.

Later in the week, Sarah offers Paul his job back and he's surprised when Sarah reveals that he’s got Todd to thank for sticking up for him.

Paul thanks Todd and when he reveals that Billy’s working late, Todd invites himself and Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) round for a chippy tea.

Back at Paul’s flat, Todd plies him with alcohol and persuades him to try on Billy’s religious robes.

Vicar Billy returns home and is unamused to find Paul prancing about in his robes.

Sean later warns Todd that he’s got the measure of him and it’s time he stopped trying to drive a wedge between Billy and Paul.

The latest drama for the couple comes just days after Paul humiliated Billy in front of the Bishop.

Billy was nervous and excited as he told Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) and Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) that the Bishop would be coming round to visit him to let him know whether we had secured the role of archdeacon, which he recently applied for.

Paul was still stewing after discovering that Todd had landed a job at Underworld.

Noticing the tension, Sarah insisted on taking the factory staff out for a curry in a bid to boost team spirit.

Over at the flat, Billy spent the evening with the Bishop, who offered a delighted Billy the archdeacon position.

The night took a turn for the worse when drunken Paul turned up, cracking lewd jokes, offering the Bishop a beer and making a fool of himself.

The Bishop couldn't get away fast enough and the next day, a hungover and remorseful Paul scoured the job pages while Billy implored him not to let Todd bother him.

Billy later received a phone call from the Bishop and told Paul with relief that despite the drunken antics he witnessed, he still wants to offer Billy the archdeacon job.

Will Paul's latest fancy dress stunt be the final straw for Billy?

Coronation Street continues on ITV on Wednesday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm
