Alison and David announced their engagement the following year and planned to tie the knot in Greece in May 2020.

David had popped the question during a cruise and Alison bought him a Rolex as an engagement present.

But the couple were later forced to postpone their ceremony with weeks to go after lockdown restrictions made the wedding a logistical nightmare.

Then, in May 2022, sources confirmed the couple had quietly ended their engagement.

One insider said: “Alison and David have sadly decided to separate. They were very much in love for a long time but have ended up growing apart.

“They parted amicably and both wish each other the best in the future.”

Alison, who also appeared in Sky One series Dream Team, joined Coronation Street as Carla in 2006.

She was previously romantically linked to ex-Corrie star Philip Middlemiss, who played Des Barnes, and her Dream team co-star Jim Alexander.
