Coronation Street spoilers: Shona Ramsey to exit as David Platt faces prison?

Coronation Street fans are gripped with the ongoing Shona Ramsey (played by Julia Goulding) and David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) storyline.

He is set for jail but it seems Shona could be making an exit from the cobbles too.

The actress spilled the beans on her future on Coronation Street and it seems fans will have Shona around for at least another year.

Last night, Julia sent out the tweet everyone had been waiting for and confirmed although she will be on maternity leave for a while, she’s staying put.

Julia told her 30,900 followers on Twitter yesterday: “I’m so thrilled to say I’ve just signed to stay on the cobbles of @itvcorrie for another year!

“I’ll be having a baby break when the time comes but Shona will be back!”

Needless to say fans were thrilled by the announcement and flocked to share their well-wishes with the actress.

One wrote: “Great news. Shona has been a massive hit on Corrie & she’s a fan favourite for sure!”

Another added: “Excellent news! Corrie would have been mad to let you go.”

“Congratulations Julia. That’s wonderful news. Best wishes with everything,” said a third.

Meanwhile, it’s been a turbulent time on Coronation Street for the Platt family, which Shona will soon be marrying in to.

David is heading to court with half-brother, Nick Tilsley (Ben Price), for stealing their grandmother Audrey Roberts’ (Sue Nicholls) money.

They’re both facing time in prison for the crime and it will certainly tear the family apart.

However, in the coming weeks, there’s about to be a huge twist as Nick turns on his family.

While they were prepared to split the blame thus splitting the sentence, Nick decides to do the unthinkable.

After being pressurised by Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson), he throws David under the bus in front of the judge.

Will the court see past Nick’s wily ways or is this it for David and his long-terms marriage plans?

What’s more, what will Gail and Audrey think of Nick’s actions?

Time will tell to see if David and Shona survive yet another bump in their relationship.

Coronation Street continues tonight on ITV at 7.30pm.
