Coronation Street spoilers: Shona Ramsey goes behind David's back to visit her son in prison after learning his dad died of an overdose

She'll go and see killer Clayton after finding out his dad has dies and she has to break the news to him.

Clayton and Shona last appeared on screen together in 2017, when she visited him prison.

The terrifying character has made his return 18 months after stabbing Kylie Platt to death.

Late last year, Corrie boss Iain MacLeod confirmed that David and Shona's relationship will be thrown into question when Clayton returned to the soap.

Kylie's husband David ended up falling for Shona, not realising she was Clayton's mother.

Julia Goulding, who plays Shona, spoke of her character's reunion with Clayton.

She said: "Her mothering instinct kicks in and she just needs to get to her baby and break the news to him that his dad has died, so it’s not an easy job.

"Clayton's an absolute mess and all her instincts as a mother completely kick in and it’s heartbreaking for her to see.

"She just wants to do anything she can to help him, but Clayton is a very bad boy.

"He says his life is at risk in prison, he’s being threatened and he wants her to help him get a move to a different prison."

Julia says Shona will be worried to tell David about the visit.

She said: "They’ve got a rule that they don’t talk about him, so even though she doesn’t talk about it she does keep in contact with Clayton, it’s just never mentioned.

"But with such a huge betrayal at stake there with David if she does keep this is a secret that’s on her mind too."
