Coronation Street spoilers: Original Corrie star tragically dies aged 94; plus EastEnders & Emmerdale news | The Sun

TRIBUTES have poured after it was announced iconic Coronation Street actor Ernst Walder has died aged 94.

The original cast member passed away last September but the news broke this morning (Thursday June 16) after former Coronation Street writer Daran Little shared the tragic news of Ernst's death.

He played the character of Ivan Cheveski, son-in-law of Elsie Tanner, and spent much of the 60s in a relationship with Tony Warren.

In a social media post, Little said: "Very sad to read of the passing of dearest Ernst Walder

"An original C St cast member who quickly became Tony Warren’s boyfriends before Tony caught him in bed with another cast member.

"Ernst used to send my sons chocolates every Christmas and was the loveliest man."

Tributes have begun pouring in for the iconic soap star.

    The pair rowed over their relationship problems with Brian raging at Cathy – but fans just want her to be free of him and for the storyline to end.

    One wrote: “I feel so sorry for Cathy! She needs to get rid of Brian because their relationship just isn’t working.”

    A second said: “I’m sorry, but Cathy is completely trapped in this relationship with Brian.”

    Another added: “Right, let’s face it, the storyline with Cathy and Brian needs to end. Like, right now.”

    After leaving the soap in 2014, the actor, who played Marcus Dent, admits it led to a troubled time in his life.

    Charlie who is dad to Georgia, 12, and Hal, nine, with husband Cameron Laux, quit the soap so he could be a “present” parent.

    “There were a lot of great things about being at Corrie and it was a hard decision to make,” he told Brood.

    “I had been deliberating it for months, because in a sense you’ve got job security – you can potentially be there for a long time; you know when you can take your holidays, and all those things.”

    But being away from his kids became too much to handle, and he eventually quit the show.

    “I was giving that role up with essentially nothing to go into,” Charlie explained.

    “I would come home on Friday evening, and I’d have to go back to Manchester again on a Sunday afternoon.

    “It just wasn’t working, so I don’t regret it at all, but it was still a hard decision to make.”

    Following his departure from the ITV soap, Charlie had no work and eventually he had to get therapy to help him.

    “I had a bit of breakdown after I left Corrie , as I had left for the right reasons but suddenly I had job, no money, and things were tough and I got myself into therapy because I needed to help myself,” he said.

    “So, seeing a therapist was brilliant for me and helped me to figure out who I was. I think we take care of our physical selves all the time but so many of us don’t take care of our mental health and wellbeing.”

    Danny Dyer is set to leave the iconic soap, and fans think they have sussed out how.

    A a soap fan named Ryan believes everything will come together at Christmas, just in time for Mick actor Danny Dyer’s departure.

    Ryan took to Twitter theorising that, upon waking up from her coma, Linda will fake having amnesia and pretend not to remember Janine’s involvement in the car crash.

    “If Linda is faking amnesia she might inform Sharon and then find the right moment to strike and get her own back on Janine in the end.”

    The fan added: “I can see all of this blowing up on Xmas day. Linda feigning amnesia – come Xmas day the whole secret blows up rips the Carter’s apart and then that’s how Mick might choose to leave the Square in the end.”

      Inside Brooke Vincent’s epic 30th birthday party

      CORONATION Street star Brooke Vincent threw an epic 30th birthday party, dancing up a storm and blowing out the candles on TWO cakes.

      The actress was joined by her fiance Kean Bryan and a host of family and friends at the bash.

      Both of her adorable cute sons, Mexx, two, and Monroe, one, were also at the party.

      The shindig took place at the luxe Manchester Hall venue, and Brooke sported a gorgeous flesh coloured dress with silver embroidered detail.

      She posed for snaps at the venue in front of an incredible plant wall and two giant numbers which showed her milestone age.
