Coronation Street spoilers: Fiz exposed as serial killer's wife

FIZ Stape's past comes back to haunt her as her connection to serial killer John Stape comes to light.

However, the Coronation Street character mentioned nothing of their marriage to her new partner, Phill.

More than a decade has passed since John Stape (played by Graeme Hawley) passed away in dramatic circumstances.

Since then, his former wife Fiz (soap legend Jennie McAlpine) has built her life back up, slowly forgetting his villainous deeds as time went by.

Fiz was even accused of murdering John's victims until he came back to the cobbles to clear her name.

In doing so, the Corrie stalwart has preferred to sweep her past under the rug, not even mentioning it to her partner Phill Whittaker (Jamie Kenna).

But in scenes due on our screens next week, Fiz could be exposed by none other than his friends.

Coming up, Fiz meets up with Phill and his friends, Graham and Angela.

Sadly for Fiz, Graham recognises her from her trial and explains that he was the solicitor for the prosecution.

With the truth slowly unravelling, Fiz confides in Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) how she’s never told Phill about her crazy ex-husband in case he ran a mile.

In later scenes, while Fiz is in the Underworld factory, Michael’s fascinated to realise she was married to John Stape the serial killer.

Awash with humiliation and unable to cope, Fiz storms out.

Fiz tied the knot with John Stape in 2009 and shares a daughter, Hope, with the criminal.

Over the course of their romance, John broke Fiz's heart multiple times, notably by having an affair with his pupil, Rosie Webster, and even kidnapping her.

This resulted in him serving time in Highfield Prison and the pair married shortly before his release.

His victims included Coling Fishwick, Charlotte Hoyle and Colin's mother Joy.

When he was found out, John jumped from the rook of Weatherfield General but managed to survive the fall, thus going on the run.

John eventually met his demise during a convoluted plan involving kidnapping Rosie a second time.

He was fatally injured in a car crash but was able to confess the truth before dying from a heart attack.
