Coronation Street spoiler: Does a gang murder mark the end for Kelly Neelan?

ITV's Coronation Street character Kelly Neelan, played by actress Millie Gibson, will make a dramatic departure from the the soap in the coming weeks after Millie, 18, announced she was leaving the show.

Now, shocking new pictures of the Coronation Street cast filming her final scenes out on location appear to show that the character could be about to become embroiled in a sinister and even tragic storyline.

Millie previously took to Instagram and teased images of herself doing some night-time filming and in these new photos, it's possible to see her character Kelly being grabbed and attacked by a group of men, seemingly screaming and struggling with a hand placed over her mouth.

While it's unclear what happens to lead Kelly, it's obvious that a big storyline is on the way for her exit.

A Corrie spokesperson gave some clues as they shared: "The clock has been ticking for Gary Windass ever since he took in the teenage daughter of the man he murdered."

They added: "Increasingly seeing Gary as a father figure, Kelly is further indebted to Gary when he rescues her from the clutches of dad Rick’s shady associates.

"But having witnessed how far Gary is willing to go to keep her safe, Kelly starts to wonder if he has crossed that line before.

"Meanwhile, Gary’s wife Maria continues to struggle with the unwanted online attention her council work has brought, and Gary is determined to protect her."

Kelly's life has been endangered before when she was kidnapped by associates of her gangster dad, Rick. Gary, the one who actually killed Rick, saved her and she was shocked by the violent lengths he went to in retribution.

Millie, who recently spoke to OK! about her to film more action scenes on the show, has been part of some a major plot lines since joining the ITV soap three years ago.

Her character Kelly was heavily involved in the hate-crime storyline which saw Nina and Seb attacked.

She's also found herself homeless. And has been targeted by Abi Franklin who blamed her for Seb’s death.
