Coronation Street fans shocked to learn Ken Barlow’s son Daniel is 24 – much younger than expected – The Sun

CORONATION Street viewers were in shock after Ken Barlow's son Daniel revealed he's only 24.

The bereaved father-of-one is struggling to deal with the death of wife Sinead Tinker from cancer.

In an emotional chat with half-brother Adam, in which he questioned his ability to father Bertie alone, he mentioned his age.

While certainly not a secret, it surprised viewers nonetheless, with one writing on Twitter: "genuinely didn’t think daniel was only 24 omg can’t believe i’m older than him #corrie."

Another asked: "Daniels only 24? #Corrie."

Daniel was born on January 4, 1995 to parents Denise and Ken. His twin died in the womb at five months old.

Actor Rob Mallard, who plays Daniel, is 27.

Corrie viewers were disgusted earlier this week when a burglar was seen robbing Daniel's laptop with Sinead’s farewell video on it while he was at her funeral.

After finding the strength to say his goodbyes, Daniel left his home to give a eulogy.

But as he sobbed over his wife's grave, a mystery person was ransacking his flat.

The devastating realisation that Daniel will no longer be able to watch the three-hour footage, fans argued the soap had gone too far.

One said: "Breaking into a dead woman's flat on the day of her funeral is a bit of a sick story line #Corrie."

Another added: "Fgs could Corrie make any more of a farce out of sineads death!

"First her husband cheats whilst she dying then her house gets burgled at her funeral!! Story line as been ruined #Corrie #sinead."

Someone else said: "I’m sorry but why is coronation street so depressing lately? A funeral then someone burgles the flat of the person who’s funeral it was all time low! #Corrie."

Another viewer added: "Oh my god what scumbag just robbed the laptop that Daniel has the videos on?! #corrie."

While viewers previously spotted a massive howler when the soap embarrassingly announced that Sinead wouldn't be attending her own funeral.

The blunder happened when the soap's official YouTube uploaded a video with a mistake in the title, leaving fans laughing about how the show was stating the obvious.

The video was captioned: "Ken breaks the news that Sinead won't be attending Sinead's funeral."

Of course, the clip was meant to say Daniel instead of Sinead and the error was quickly rectified but those who spotted it were tickled by the gaffe.
