Celebrity SAS star Kerry Katona says she 'literally died' after coke binge and battled back from the brink of death
KERRY Katona has relived her drug hell and revealed she came dangerously close to dying during the height of her cocaine addiction.
The mum-of-five is now in a far happier and healthier place since seeking help for her public struggle with substance abuse, and speaks out regularly about just how bad things can get if you don’t seek help.
Now, Kerry has said that she nearly died twice as a result of binges, and spoke about what she saw and felt during those near-death experiences.
“The amount of coke I was once doing, I literally died,” she told new! Magazine. “I remember coming back [from the brink of death] with these beautiful figures around me and I felt so much love – that happened to me twice.
“I’d stopped breathing. So I know I have angels looking out for me. You can knock me down but you can’t keep me down.”
Over the past few years, Kerry has fought to get back to health and is now taking on one of her biggest challenges yet on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.
But in the first episode alone, it was clear to chief instructor Ant Middleton that something was wrong and that a mental block was stopping her from being her best.
In an interrogation to get to the bottom of it, Kerry broke down in tears as the weight of her past trauma became too much.
She later admitted that the fierce yelling during the drills had her spiral back to feelings of life within her abusive three-year marriage to George Kay.
George died in 2019 after suffering a seizure connected to biting into a cocaine ‘eight-ball’, leaving behind his now seven-year-old daughter with Kerry, Dylan-Jorge.
Speaking to cameras after her interrogation, Kerry said: "When George died there were so many mixed emotions. I was so angry. How f***ing dare you die?! Putting me and the kids through all that s**t, and then you just die.
"The worst conversation I had to have was with my five-year-old to tell her her daddy had died. I had to explain that to a baby. As t**t as he was, he was still her dad."
Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins continues Sundays at 9pm on Channel 4.
