Catch-22 on Hulu cast: Who is in the cast of Catch-22?
Channel 4 will be airing Hulu series Catch-22 from this evening (Thursday, June 20) with the six-part series being broadcast weekly. The show aired in America back in May and follows World War 2 bombardier John Yossarian (played by Christopher Abbott) who is trying to escape the conflict by trying to be declared insane. However, his scheme doesn’t quite go to plan as he continues to carry out missions and with horror upon horror of war being heaped upon him.
John Yossarian – Christopher Abbott
US stage and screen actor Christopher Abbott takes on the lead as John Yossarian.
Most recently he featured in Damian Chazelle’s Neil Armstrong biopic First Man starring Ryan Gosling.
He also took on the title role in the film James White as well as parts in It Comes At Night and A Most Violent Year.
Speaking to media including Express.co.uk at a recent screening, Catch-22 director and producer George Clooney said about the casting.

“We wanted to get the best actors we could for the project but we couldn’t afford them, so we got these guys,” he joked.
Abbott, who was also in attendance, said of Yossarian: “I think there’s a through line of existentialism that runs through him. I think he’s an existentialist at heart.
“Then the journey goes from someone who’s just trying to pretend to be insane to get out and eventually probably becoming insane through the process.”
He added: “It was some of the best things I’d ever read.”
HOW MANY EPISODES ARE IN CATCH-22?
Scheisskopf – George Clooney
George Clooney not only plays Scheisskopf but takes on directorial and executive producing duties in Catch-22.
Clooney has been focusing on his work behind the camera over the last decade or so but has had roles in Gravity, Hail, Caesar! and Money Monster.
On his Catch-22 character, Clooney said: “Well, the character’s name translates from German to ’s*** head’, so there wasn’t a whole lot of subtly to that. But it’s fun because all I did was yell. There’s no arc to my character. He just loves parades.”
Major de Coverley – Hugh Laurie
Hugh Laurie is Major de Coverley, who is more concerned about getting lamb chops and strudel than the lives of his officers.
British national treasure Laurie has most recently starred as the villainous Richard Roper in The Night Manager, miniseries Chance and US satirical comedy Veep.
WHERE IS CATCH-22 FILMED?
Colonel Cathcart – Kyle Chandler
Kyle Chandler takes on the part of the perpetually irate Colonel Cathcart, who keeps upping the number of missions soldiers have to go on in order to be discharged.
Hollywood star Chandler is best known for the likes of Friday Night Lights, Netflix hit Bloodline and First Man.
Chandler’s role on Friday Night Lights as Coach Taylor won him an Emmy Award and he has consistently been nominated for awards in subsequent projects.
On joining Catch-22, he said: “Everyone that read the script – you didn’t have to get far into it to see it was something you wanted to take a shot at.
“It was intimidating at the same point but it was so much fun. Once I stepped in those shoes – he just keeps turning the burner up and up and up until boom. It was a great, great experience.”
Milo Minderbinder – Daniel David Stewart
In the role of opportunist officer Milo Minderbinder is Daniel David Stewart.
Catch-22 marks his biggest role to date after fearing in the TV movie Controversy, The Sound of Magic and Encore!
Aarfy Aardvark – Rafi Gavron
British actor Rafi Gavron portrays Aarfy Aardvark in the series having previously had roles in 24, Life Unexpected, HBO’s Rome and film A Star Is Born.
Marion Scheisskopf – Julie Ann Emery
Julie Ann Emery plays Marion Scheisskopf, the wife of Clooney’s General and who is having an affair with Yossarian.
Emery is most recognisable thank to her role in Breaking Bad prequel Better Call Saul, AMC’s Preacher and TV series Major Crimes.
Other cast members include Graham Patrick Martin as Orr, Lewis Pullman as Major Major Major Major, Jon Rudnitsky as McWatt, Pico Alexander as Clevinger, Grant Heslov as Doc Daneeka and Gerran Howell as Kid Sampson, among others.
Catch-22 starts on Channel 4 tonight at 9pm
