British Transport Police assure their recruitment is better than Line Of Duty’s after Ryan becomes a police officer

BRITISH Transport Police have assured Line of Duty fans that their recruitment system is better than the one depicted in the BBC drama after Ryan became a police officer in last night's season finale.

A spokesperson for the authority's career page took to their official Twitter account after the episode aired to make the light-hearted remark, urging their followers  to get involved with the police force.

They wrote: "Please be assured, our recruitment is much better than this.

"If you’re looking to work with @BTP then please visit http://careers.btp.police.uk to find out about opportunities to join us.

"OCG members need not apply. Our team follows the letter of the law. The letter! #LineOfDuty".

The page shared a screenshot of Ryan Pilkington in full policer gear from last night's episode, with the caption explaining that the character "has been accepted for training as a Student Police Officer".

Fans were tickled by the tweet, which has over 10,000 likes and 2,000 retweets.

One follower wrote: "First class tweet, well done."

Another praised: "Best tweet of the night."

A third shared: "This is brilliant – really needed a laugh after that finale."

Ryan has appeared in the popular drama since the first series, debuting as an 11-year-old boy who tried to cut off Arnott’s fingers with a bolt cutter.

Throughout series five. Ryan has proved himself to be a terrifying member of the violent OCG gang, not thinking twice about stabbing or attacking people who get in his way.

There were plenty of hints that he might be joining the police force throughout the show.

At one point, Lisa McQueen asked him how his exams went, with Ryan replying: "Great, I've got a date for my interview too."
