Brad Pitt ‘encouraged’ ex-wife Jen Aniston to join Friends reunion because ‘it was the right time’ – The Sun
IT is no secret Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston have recently rekindled their connection, but who knew it might have lead to the hotly anticipated Friends reunion.
Apparently it was Brad himself who convinced his ex-wife Jennifer to say yes to the multi-million dollar reunion.
The cast of the 90s sitcom almost broke the internet when they took to Instagram to simultaneously announce the return of the beloved series.
Even though all six stars have signed up to the special which will air on streamer HBO Max, it took a bit of convincing for Jennifer, 51, to get on board.
“After reuniting with Brad at her birthday last year, she asked him for advice. He said he thought it would be a great idea to honour their success and that fans still hold the show in such high regard,” a Hollywood insider told Closer Magazine.
Apparently, Jennifer was keen to hear her ex-husband's thoughts on the reunion and sought his advice a number of times.
“He told her it feels like the right time to get back together and encouraged her change of heart," the insider said.
“He advised her to say ‘yes’ when everyone got together in October to celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary.”
Jennifer was the last cast member to sign on and is expected to make more than $5million per episode.
But a source close to Brad told The Sun the report is 'not true' and he had 'no role' in encouraging the reunion
Fans had waited exactly 15 years and nine months to hear Jennifer and her cast mates, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry would be reuniting.
But they will have to settle for an "untitled unscripted special" on the original Friends sound stage.
“We will not be doing a reunion show, we will not be doing a reboot,” Friends co-creator and executive producer Marta Kauffman said at the Tribeca TV Festival.
News of Jennifer reaching out to Brad has come after the pair were seen getting chummy during the recent awards season.
They were spotted having a warm catch up and a laugh after Brad won the supporting actor SAG award for his role as a weathered stuntman in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
The couple married in 2000 and became of one of the might high profile celebrity couples in the world. Brad even had a cameo on Friends before the couple's divorce in 2005.
He went on to form a nine-year relationship with Mr & Mrs Smith co-star Angelina Jolie, while Jennifer dated actor Vince Vaughn before marrying actor and producer Justin Theroux in 2015.
