Boxing legend Frank Bruno's autobiography to be turned into TV drama
FRANK Bruno's career is going to be immortalised as a TV drama.
I’m told the boxing icon is in talks with a production company to turn his autobiography, Let Me Be Frank, into a screen series.
It is believed the BBC has expressed an interest, although the drama could be released on Netflix or Amazon Prime.
A source said: “Despite retiring from the sport more than 20 years ago, Frank remains one of the country’s best-loved sports stars.
“The story of his life has never been told on TV before and is likely to be a massive hit with viewers.
“The drama would focus heavily on Frank’s fight outside the ring. In many ways Frank’s battle with his demons has been his toughest ever. And that’s a compelling story.”
The series would show how Frank, who suffered racist abuse as a kid, was crowned World Champion at the fourth attempt in 1995.
In between he became a national treasure, appearing in pantos, on TV shows and in adverts. His friendship with commentator Harry Carpenter was one of the most famous double acts in sport. But, following his retirement in 1996, father-of-four Frank was hit by mental illness and has been sectioned three times.
He has now made a full recovery and been able to rebuild the relationship with his family. A spokesman for Frank confirmed he had been approached.
He said: “Frank’s had a few people say they want to tell his story on screen over the years. He’s looking forward to someone getting their camera out.”

Molly's say nay payday
LOVE Island star Molly-Mae Hague features in an upcoming documentary, Missguided: Made In Manchester.
The Channel 4 show, which starts on Wednesday, sees execs at the fashion label tempting her to promote the brand with a whopping deal worth £350,000.
The Herts-based social media influencer, who is still dating Tommy Fury since they hooked up on the ITV2 show last year, ended up going with a rival company instead.
What didn’t help was the fact they tried to sweeten the deal by throwing in an £80k Range Rover – not realising Molly-Mae can’t drive.
A nice idea but one which was was, well, misguided.
She eventually signed a mega £500,000 deal with Pretty Little Thing – the biggest promo pay cheque for any of the 2019 islanders.
ADAM TO TRI HARD
COMIC ADAM HILLS is one of the celebs teaming up with people with disabilities for the At Home Superheroes challenge, which is being filmed by Channel 4.
The Marvel-sponsored Superhero Tri event invited 1,000 people to take part.
The hour-long highlights show, presented by Clare Balding, follows six families and their famous team captains as they try to complete 20km by whatever means they can, whether that be running, skating or dancing.
Three London mums are taking on the challenge with their teenagers.
The children are Elvi, 18, who has a form of dwarfism; Louis, 13, who has chromosomal conditions; and 17-year-old Jess, who has a genetic condition.
At Home Superheroes will air on August 15 at 8am.
Cavill's Jersey cream
ITV is aiming to line up the creme de la creme of Wags for its new series, Real Housewives Of Jersey.
They are hoping to sign Kiri Cavill – Superman actor Henry Cavill’s sister-in-law – and Nina Mackie, who is Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthews’ older sister.
Already confirmed for the reality show, which airs next year, are Tessa Hartmann and her singer daughter Tallia Storm – an ex of Brooklyn Beckham.
Also set to join the reality line- up is Margaret Thompson, CEO of luxury estate agents Fine & Country.
A show source said: “ITV really wants to go for Netflix Selling Sunset vibes and have already got Margaret on board as a real housewife.
“She only sells homes worth £10million or more, so there will be lots of property porn.
“And she’s just started marketing one of the most expensive homes on the island.”
Somehow I doubt it will be getting the viewing numbers of Selling Sunset, which has been a huge hit on Netflix.
Biz Bit
THE brilliant Taskmaster may have just won a Bafta but the show, which has moved from Dave to Channel 4, has been axed in the US after a single episode. Which only confirms my belief that Americans have poor taste in TV.
Gem eyes mum role
GEMMA COLLINS has revealed her next steps to becoming a parent.
The former Towie star, who recently had a stormy split with James Argent, says she is prepared to visit a sperm bank to make her dream of motherhood come true.
Speaking on yesterday’s Loose Women on ITV, The GC said: “My lovely gay besties have put themselves up for the job. But if I had to go down that route I would do it.”

Was it a codpiece?
A PHALLIC-shaped fish sign had a cameo on Coronation Street this week, with viewers taking to Twitter to point it out.
The unusual outline appeared on a display behind Gemma Winter, played by Dolly Rose Campbell. But as one social media user commentated: “That’s neither a fish or a chip.”
It could be a battered sausage though . . .
