Big twist as Coronation Street confirms Beth actually did hit 'lying' Hope

We were all gobsmacked this evening when Coronation Street revealed a big twist: Beth Tinker (Lisa George) did actually hit Hope Dobbs (Isabella Flanagan)!

On Wednesday night (1 February), Hope made the accusation that Beth had slapped her to a horrified Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) and Tyrone (Alan Halsall).

Fiz immediately confronted Beth who fervently denied it, claiming that she would never do something like that.

The argument that followed put quite the strain on Tyrone and Kirk’s (Andy Whyment) friendship, something that they decided to tackle in tonight’s episode.

Determined to save the boys’ decade long relationship, Fiz and Beth agreed to meet, in an attempt to put Hope’s presumed false allegations behind them.

However, they were soon interrupted by the troubled child herself, who was furious to see Beth back in her parents’ good books.

As Hope stormed out, Beth offered to go after her.

It was when they met outside that the truth came out, with Beth apologising for hitting her.

In order to keep Hope quiet about what really happened, she offered her unlimited cuddles with Peanut, the dog that started all this in the first place, before sweetening the deal with some cash.

Viewers will remember that Peanut scared Cilla the Chinchilla to death, leaving Hope with a vendetta against the pup.

After framing Peanut for biting her, she felt terrible to discover that Peanut may have to be put down.

Her trick was eventually discovered when Tyrone matched the bite marks on her arm with the teeth of Vin Diesel the Weasel, leaving Beth furious.

With Hope still angry about Beth’s assault, will she keep quiet? Or will she seek revenge of her own?
