Quick recap of the first season of Big Little Lies

WARNING contains spoilers from season one

The first season told the compelling story of a death in a affluent town in America.

We weren't quite sure who did what and why, but we were eyeing everyone suspiciously in hopes of spotting the murderer before it was revealed.

As the episodes went on, it was impossible to not fall in love with the five moms trying to be the best mothers they could.

Celeste, played by Nicole Kidman, was a beautiful lady living a seemingly perfect life with her husband and twin boys.

However, it soon became apparent that her husband Perry was an abusive psychopath.

As for Reese Witherspoon's character Madeline, she was a strong-willed, wealthy woman who was a true alpha-female.

Then, there was the newbie in town, single mother Jane, played by Shailene Woodley, and her son Ziggy.g

Together with the positive hippie mom Bonnie and protective mother bear Laura Dern, the characters swept us off our feet and we started playing detective.

Yet the finale was a shock to us all.

As Perry made a move on Celeste who was refusing to go back home with him and accept more abuse, the women pulled together to defend their friend.

Next, the cruel Perry was pushed down a flight of stairs by the master of zen, Bonnie, which led to his unintended death.

The ladies agreed on a story and decided to protect Bonnie; they all told the police that Perry fell by himself, accidentally.

Season 2 will see Perry's death investigated and the ladies trying to hide the fact that it was an unintended murder caused by one of them.
