BBC Breakfast blunder sees guest walk off camera after embarrassing mishap | The Sun

BBC Breakfast viewers were left in hysterics after an embarrassing mishap saw a guest walk-off camera ahead of their interview.

Host Jayne McCubbin had headed to Skegness to chat to the Mayor and owners of local businesses ahead of Friday's heatwave.

Jayne went live from the seaside town in Lincolnshire – dubbed Skeg Vegas on a new £36,000 sign alongside the iconic sea front.

The BBC Breakfast star showed off some fan-favourites from the UK holiday destination as the new signage was unveiled to locals.

Among her interviewees was mascot Jolly the Fisherman, who is frequently seen hanging out on the pier of Skegness.

The huge costume includes a large plastic head with a smiling face, as well as a blue t-shirt reading: "The Jolly Fisherman of Skegness."

"If you think Skegness, you'll think beautiful beach, you'll think exciting theme park over there," Jayne introduced the segment.

"You'll think fish and chips, the oldest chip shop in town ladies and gentlemen, and you'll think…"

She was cut off as she looked around confused for her next guest, Jolly the Fisherman, who had walked off during her introduction.

"Jolly!" she shouted after him as she beckoned him back over. "Jolly, Jolly – to me! Jolly Fisherman, he's kind of scary."

"Jolly is rather naughty at times. And he can be scary. With children I did a party a while back and took him along and 90% of the children were frightened," the Mayor explained.

"Is this what you want for a family resort?" Jayne jokingly hit back, as the Mayor insisted: "Not frightening children, no. But he is good."
