Anderson Cooper Just Keeps Getting Embarrassed on 'Watch What Happens Live'

The CNN anchor shares stories of embarrassment at the hands of his mother Gloria Vanderbilt, Andy Cohen and then gets hit again when Cohen shares a sexual secret.

Anderson Cooper must live his life in a state of near-constant embarrassment as no less than three separate incidents dominated his Sunday night appearance on "Watch What Happens Live."

As everyone knows by now, Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen are best friends, so things always get pretty candid when Anderson drops by Andy’s show. "Real Housewives of Atlanta" cast-member Cynthia Bailey was in the third chair, but even she knew that this was basically the AC Show.

Luckily, the pair are a lot of fun together, even if Andy likes to push Anderson to the brink of his propriety just to watch him squirm on the edge. Sometimes it’s good to have a friend that challenges us, just as Andy probably benefits from Anderson reigning his excesses in from time to time.

Throughout the night, we got the story of the time that Andy embarrassed Anderson the most, how Anderson’s own mother, Gloria Vanderbilt, embarrassed him by asking him to edit her "romance memoir." And then we got to watch him blush live on the air as Andy dropped the little truth kernel that he believes they are "Eskimo brothers."

How Andy Embarrassed Anderson

Andy gets a little glint in his eye when he knows he’s embarrassing Anderson, and we can imagine the look on his face as he was subjecting his bestie to what Anderson described as his most embarrassing stunt. He even asked Andy if he should tell this story first, and with a hint of that glint, Andy was all for it.

And he smirked, delighted, through the whole story. It all went down after a joint show in Philadelphia when they went back to Anderson’s room and Andy decided he wanted to order some Philly cheesesteak sandwiches from room service

"He was being really kind of aggressive with the person on the other end of the phone in room service. He kept calling them back because it was taking a while. He was like, ‘It’s a double-rush! It’s a double rush!’" Anderson recalled. "I finally was like, ‘Andy, you’re being kind of a jerk to that person.’ He goes, ‘It’s okay, they think I’m you.’"

Oh, Andy looked so proud of himself for that one, even now as Anderson recalled it. That’s what best friends do. They torture you … but it comes from a place of great affection.

How Gloria Vanderbilt Embarrassed Anderson

Gloria Vanderbilt has led an interesting life that many people would find fascinating, including the litany of men she spent time with during the Golden Era of Hollywood. But there’s one person who may not be as intrigued by all those salacious stories: her son, Anderson Cooper.

"She wrote a romance memoir about all the gentlemen that she has known," Anderson said. "like Howard Hughes and Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando — like hot Marlon Brando, not like ‘Apocalypse Now’ Marlon Brando. Yeah, she asked me to proofread it and I was like, ‘Really?’"

Andy then pushed him to reveal the "worst" line in the book, from Anderson’s perspective, which was when she described one lover as "the Nijinsky of cunnilingus." He went on to add, "I asked her to take that part out. She didn’t take it out."

Cooper admitted he had to look up both words, but we’ll do half the work for you. Vaslav Nijinsky was widely considered the greatest male dancer of the early 20th Century. The rest we can’t really get into on this site, but that’s not the only thing you might need to look up.

How Andy Embarrassed Anderson II: The Second Coming

Andy Cohen loves embarrassing his friend, and this time he got to do it in front of Cynthia and the "WWHL" audience. It all went down in a very simple game that saw Cynthia read a question and have the two guys answer at the same time.

"What’s the one thing people don’t know about the two of you?" she asked.

"That we’re Eskimo brothers," Andy shot back, eliciting a surprised "What?" from Anderson.

Andy, though, refused to define the slang expression on his show. But Anderson clearly knew exactly what he was talking about, as he started blushing right away. "I don’t even know if that’s true," he insisted, but his skin tone said otherwise.

Other questions the guys covered included Andy’s go-to stoner snack, Anderson’s spirit animal and which of them is more likely to have watched porn most recently.
