Amanda Holden and David Walliams among celebs to voice support for Meghan Markle and Harry as they quit Royal Family – The Sun

CELEBRITIES have rushed to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's defence after announcing that they are quitting as senior royals.

The move has left the Queen "deeply upset" but celebs have shared their love and respect for the "coolest couple" and their bombshell statement.

Amanda Holden admitted she doesn't "understand what all the fuss is about" as she spoke on Heart Breakfast this morning.

"Honestly I don’t really understand what all the fuss is about because before Christmas the Royal Family announced they were going to slim down the Royal Family, just use the main players, and I would imagine that Harry and Meghan don’t consider themselves main players so all their doing is stepping back, earning their own money and still going to represent us brilliantly abroad," she said.

Adding: "It’s a shame because I feel that Harry is the more fun down to earth one so we’ll kind of lose a bit of sparkle I think but I think we’ll be able to watch from a distance. I think they’re gonna storm it."

Meanwhile, her fellow Britain's Got Talent judge David Walliams shared a picture from their engagement and simply tweeted: "The coolest couple."

And comedian Amy Schumer poked fun at the whole situation with a picture of herself being pushed in a wheelchair by her husband on the beach.

"Chris and I are formally stepping down from our royal duties. We appreciate your support," she wrote on Instagram.

Meanwhile, The Good Place star Jameela Jamil tweeted: "And that folks, is what power looks like."

And Pointless star Richard Osman chimed in: "I love Harry and Meghan."

Other celebs took the opportunity to comment on the usefulness of the royal family.

Comedian David Baddiel quipped: "Harry and Meghan gone. Andrew gone. Soon there may be no-one left to smile and wave awkwardly from absurd carriages."

But not everyone took the news well and traditionalist Piers Morgan tweeted: "Just an appalling way to treat his grandmother, let alone the fact she is the Queen."

Last night, the couple rushed out a bombshell statement after their plans were exclusively revealed in The Sun.

But the failure to consult other Royals has triggered outrage.

A senior source said: “Their statement was not cleared with anyone. It breaks all protocol. This is a declaration of war on the family.

“There is fury over how they’ve done this without any thought for the implications for the institution. The Queen is deeply upset. The Prince of Wales and Duke of Cambridge are incandescent with rage.

“Courtiers can’t believe it. There are so many unanswered questions but they’ve just up and done it without a thought for anyone else.

“The plan was there to discuss it and work out a way that works for everyone in the family."
