After Life: The Nurse’s name was revealed in season one scene fans missed – did you spot?
The relationship between Tony (played by Ricky Gervais) and the Nurse (Ashley Jensen) played a major part in the first series of After Life. As Tony dealt with the loss of his late wife Lisa (Kerry Godliman), the Nurse was a rare ray of sunshine for the grief-stricken journalist. However, one thing has alluded Netflix viewers since her introduction to the show: her real name.

Throughout the first season, Tony never actually called his dad’s (David Bradley) nurse by her first name.
And going into season two, it’s a topic of conversation that’s brought up in the very first episode of the new series.
The mystery surrounding the Nurse’s name isn’t cleared up any further in the Netflix series’ credits as Ashley Jensen is simply credited as playing ‘Nurse’.
However, there was a moment in the first season when one of her colleagues revealed what her name really is.

In episode four, Tony pays a visit to his father in his care home after yet another disappointing therapy session with his therapist (Paul Kaye).
Upon arriving at the Autumnal Leaves Care Home, he notices there’s a different nurse in his father’s room.
Tony enters his dad’s room and says to the new nurse: “Hi, where’s the other one?”
The care worked is puzzled by Tony’s vague question and replies: “Which one?”
Ricky Gervais’ character then delivers a less than flattering description of the Nurse.
Tony replies with his typical air of bluntness: “Scottish, mouthy.”
The unnamed nurse then replies: “Emma. Do you want to speak to her?”
A nervous Tony then says: “Er… yeah, please.”
Just moments later, Ashley Jensen’s character enters the room, confirming that she is the Emma her colleague mentioned earlier.
Tony continues to avoid mentioning her name even though he’d discovered it just minutes earlier.
Will Tony finally call Emma by her name in the second season of After Life?
One thing that is for sure is that she’s not the only After Life favourite returning.
