WWE legend The Undertaker's 7 most shocking moments from being set on fire to trying to embalm Stone Cold ALIVE

THE UNDERTAKER officially brought the curtain down on a stunning 30-year WWE career at Survivor Series.

The Deadman, 55, has established a Hall of Fame career through his legendary WrestleMania streak and his iconic character work.

Seth Rollins admitted earlier this year that 'Taker would not be able to craft his mysterious supernatural persona in the modern-day.

And with good reason as Mark Calaway has been involved in some of WWE's most shocking moments over the years – both in and out the ring.

Losing his iconic WrestleMania streak to Brock Lesnar has already been covered extensively so that will NOT be on the list.

But here, SunSport takes a look at some others…

Trying to embalm Stone Cold

In one of the most controversial moments in WWE's on-screen history, the Undertaker once "crucified" Stone Cold Steve Austin.

The Phenom was the leader of The Ministry of Darkness at the time and used his Druids to attach the Texas Rattlesnake to a cross.

Religious groups were understandably furious at the public resemblance to Jesus Christ's crucifixion.

Yet WWE made sure the announce teams never refer to the cross as a cross and instead described it as The Undertaker's 'symbol'.

Suffering second-degree burns

Taker, real name Mark Calaway, has put his body through all-sorts of turmoil in order to entertain the WWE Universe.

The American Bad Ass even once famously wrestled with second-degree burns at Elimination Chamber back in 2010.

A pyro accident during his entrance saw Undertaker having to rush to the ring and remove his coat after he was inadvertently set alight on the ramp.

During the show he could be seen pouring cold water on what would turn out to be second-degree burns to his neck and chest area.

Attacked by terrorists

Another of Undertaker's more controversial storylines was his feud with Muhammad Hassan.

The 39-year-old – real name Marc Julian Copani – portrayed an Arab-American pro wrestler looking to shed prejudices around foreigners.

The gimmick was already generating negative responses before the now infamous segment where Hassan summoned five masked men, dressed in black shirts and ski-masks to help him choke out the Undertaker.

Tragically, just three days later, the London bombings took place and the angle was abruptly canned.

Hassan was gradually removed from SmackDown at the request of the network and has since retired from wrestling.

Pushing Mankind off Hell in a Cell

"Good God Almighty, they've killed him."

Those are the iconic words of WWE's legendary commentator Jim Ross as he watched Undertaker put Mankind through hell at King of the Ring 1998.

In reality the Deadman himself admitted he thought Mick Foley was dead when he sent him first off the top of the cell before later putting him through it.

During that famous Hell in a Cell match, hardcore veteran Foley suffered a dislocated shoulder, multiple puncture wounds, a hole in his lip, and a dislocated jaw during one of WWE's most brutal bouts.

Breaking his orbital bone

This time it was the Undertaker who was suffering for his craft.

Despite the vast difference between their height and size, the Deadman ended up with a broken nose, broken orbital bone and a concussion following a match against Rey Mysterio.

During a SmackDown taping on May 25, 2010, the Master of the 619 overhit a seated senton that smashed The Phenom's face in.

Taker – real name Mark Calaway – revealed he reset his nose mid-match and battled through to claim the win despite seeing 'three' of Mysterio.

Inches from Death

The Undertaker recently revealed his botched match with Goldberg was close to being 'catastrophic' after his rival suffered a concussion.

The 55-year-old battled the WCW legend, 53, in a dream match in June last year at Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia but things ended badly.

Taker looked furious after he claimed victory in an error-strewn clash that failed to deliver after a number of mistakes.

The chief botch however came as Goldberg attempted a jackhammer but ended up dropping the Reaper on his neck.

And speaking on the Last Ride documentary, Taker said: “I was two inches from making my wife a widow, my kids fatherless."

Stalker Storyline

The Undertaker revealed kidnapping and marrying Stephanie McMahon against her will was the most bizarre storyline of his career.

The daughter of WWE boss Vince was infamously abducted during an episode of Raw by The Ministry of Darkness.

The clan then carried her to the ring on a crucifix-style symbol before attempting to have her marry the Deadman.

Thankfully, Ken Shamrock, The Big Show and Stone Cold intervened and fought off Taker's group before freeing McMahon.

During an Instagram live interview with Nine Line Apparel, Undertaker – real name Mark Calaway – said the dark 1999 storyline was the strangest of his 30-year career.

The now-retired WWE legend, 55, said: “I think probably trying to kidnap Stephanie and marry Stephanie and all that that I did.

"That was out there when I started putting Stephanie on my symbol.”
