Wolves fans wear Sin Cara masks while Nuno is awarded doctorate by city’s University

WOLVES fans celebrated the gowning glory for Nuno Espirito Santo's incredible season by wearing Sin Cara masks today – as the Mexican wrestler looked on.

And as boss Santo was made an honorary doctorate of sport by the University of Wolverhampton, other supporters made it a hat-trick of special outfits – by wearing sombreros in tribute to both WWE star Sin Cara and his most famous mask-wearer, Wolves' Mexican striker Raul Jiminez.

Santo earned his high-brow qualification after guiding Wolves to a possible seventh-place finish, having taken them up  last summer as Championship winners.

And with Wolves looking as sharp as a desert cactus, WWE Sin Cara swapped the searing sun of Mexico for the heat of the Premier League as he took in this afternoon's clash with Fulham.

Wolves' performance was left in the shade of the supporters' sombreros for long spells as they took 75 minutes to break their relegated visitors down.

Before kick-off, though, Portuguese coach Santos looked a proud man as he donned a traditional doctorate gown to pick up a scroll from the local uni.

The 45-year-old  was aiming to make it a Sin double – a doctorate and the three points to guarantee ending up seventh.
