Wolverhampton tips: Racecard, analysis and preview for the feature Betway Handicap on Monday

WITH Ciara likely to continue to affect racing we head to the all weather for the Race of the Day.

Wolverhampton hosts a couple of good races on Monday, and the Betway Handicap (7.40) just shy of ten furlongs really catches the eye.

A field of six has been declared for the Class 2 Handicap, with a healthy £19,000 up for grabs.

Top of the weights is the all weather regular and classy type on his day Victory Bond out of the William Haggas team.

He's now seven and was found out last time out, but it would be unwise to completely rule him out with capable Georgia Cox taking 3lbs off.

At his best he would likely blow these out of the water, but was no match for Felix last time out. The pair meet again here, and why a 5lbs swing in the weights would help, it's hard to imagine the pair swapping places here.

Felix is very likely to head the betting and it's hard to argue with that. He has been a revelation since being bought out of Sir Michael Stoute's yard and brought up the hat-trick last time out with relative ease.

As mentioned, Victory Bond was only third that day and Hollie Doyle – who is booked again – was always cosy on Marco Botti's horse.

There's no doubt this horse remains unexposed, but off 5lbs higher in a deeper race, it is a course regular that makes appeal at the prices.

KASER is a multiple winner at Wolves and is chasing a hat-trick of his own after two wins here. He remains only 5lbs higher than for the first of those and his win last time was comfy enough considering the muddled race.

Trainer David Loughnane does very well at the track and the booking of Ben Curtis certainly does nothing to put you off.

The lack of pace is a slight worry, but the horse can go forward if needed and the draw in four leaves the options open.

Rangali Island is another that comes into this in good nick. However, his latest win at Kempton can be crabbed and another rise in the weights is a question mark.

Sha La La La Lee is another possible pace angle, but the draw widest of all in six could make life difficult for Jane Elliot. The horse bounced back to some form last time though, but was still a clear length behind the selection.

The trip is still a slight question mark for the Tom Dascombe-trained five-year-old but he has claims following his comeback run.

Universal Gleam was well-backed last time out at Lingfield but failed to deliver with a modest third. This race is equally as competitive and he needs to improve off of a tough mark.
