KANSAS CITY CHIEFS and San Francisco 49ers went head-to-head at the Miami's Hard Rock Stadium.

Patrick Mahomes and co went into the game looking to end a 50-year wait for a Super Bowl title.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Garoppolo finally had his chance to shine as a starting quarterback in the NFL showdown for the 49ers.

Who won Super Bowl 2020?

Kansas City do not know when they are beaten as they battled back from a ten-point deficit going into the final quarter to win 31-20.

Three touchdowns in the final 15 minutes ended a 50-year wait for a Super Bowl victory.

Chiefs' Mahomes started off the better quarterback in his battle with Garoppolo, as the 24-year-old ducked under the 49ers' defence to grab the first touchdown of the evening.

That was after Robbie Gould kicked for three points to get San Francisco on the scoreboard.

Meanwhile, Garoppolo threw an interception, yet still managed to get the ball to Kyle Juszczyk their touchdown in the second quarter.

But in the second half, it was all 49ers as Raheem Mostert squeezed into the endzone to open up a ten-point lead going into the final quarter.

And to make matters worse for Chiefs, their star QB was starting to look far from the player hailed as a future great.

Mahomes had made just one interception this season prior to the Super Bowl – yet made two in the second half along with getting sacked three times.

Yet, the youngster, in only his third season, threw a 44-yard plus pass when 3rd & 15 before Travis Kelce.

And Mahomes was pivotal once again as Damien Williams sneaked into the endzone by a whisker to put the Chiefs in front.

Kansas City defence stopped Garoppolo from getting the Niners up the field, before Williams charged for his second of the evening – and hand the Chiefs a long-awaited Super Bowl win.

The new season will kick off on September 10, 2020, with Super Bowl LV scheduled for February 7, 2021 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.

The NFL draft will be held between April 23-25.

The new campaign will also see a first full term of Las Vegas Raiders.
