Weir arrives at RAD Board hearing in Flemington

Darren Weir has arrived at Racing Victoria's Flemington headquarters as the racing world waits for the final decision on the embattled horse trainer's fate.

The champion horseman was due to front the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board at 8.30 on Wednesday morning, having already decided he would not contest several of the charges laid against him last week.

The RAD Board will hear four of the original six charges against Weir, including three of possessing "jiggers" along with a charge of engaging in conduct prejudicial to the image, interests or welfare of racing.

The hearing will not include the other two charges, which involve Weir not cooperating with investigators.

Racing Victoria stewards are pressing for a four-year disqualification for the Ballarat-based handler, who is also facing potential criminal charges.

Weir has dominated Victorian racing for the past five years.

This is Weir's second appearance at the Epson Road headquarters in 48 hours. He and his Warrnambool-based stable foreman Jarrod McLean were locked in negotiations and discussions with stewards for almost 12 hours from Monday.

McLean will not appear at the hearing on Wednesday.
