Vince McMahon hails 'extraordinary' Ronda Rousey for elevating WWE women's division

VINCE MCMAHON has hailed the impact Ronda Rousey made during her first year with WWE.

The UFC legend joined the wrestling company in January 2018 and immediately became one of its top stars.

Rousey, 32, is now expected to take a break from the business after she, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair made history this month by competing in the first female main event at WrestleMania.

The MMA ace was pinned by Lynch in the triple threat encounter as the Irish Lasskicker walked away with both the Raw and SmackDown Women’s championships.

Rousey remains under contract with WWE until 2021 but has now spoken of her desire to start a family with husband Travis Browne.

It remains unclear whether she will step back inside the squared-circle in the future.

But even if she does walk away forever, WWE’s legendary Chairman and CEO is delighted with how Rousey elevated the women’s division over the past year.

Billionaire McMahon, 73, said in his quarterly investor call: “Ronda has done [an] extraordinary job for us.

“Her challenge was to bring the entire women's division up and, that was our main event at this year's WrestleMania – involving Ronda.

“So Ronda's task that she chose, and of course it's great for us is to build that whole division, have more visibility on that division, and to make stars.

“To make stars that you have stories where even after Ronda leaves.

“So when you look at what happened in WrestleMania, with Becky Lynch and Charlotte and others, the entire division.

“The focal point and the stories that are coming out of that – Ronda did an awesome job.”

Rousey underwent surgery for a broken hand after damaging it at ‘Mania.

She has been spotted wearing a cast in recent weeks while she contemplates her future.
