McGregor, 22-6, hasn't set foot inside the octagon since suffering a horrific broken leg in his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier last July.
The former featherweight and lightweight champ was eyeing a summer return to the octagon, although UFC president Dana White is anticipating an autumn comeback for The Notorious.
He told SunSport: "We're looking at early fall, if everything goes right.
White added: "If his leg heals right and he gets the clearance to really start training, then possibly early fall."
