UFC champion Stipe Miocic '100 per cent' believes he should fight WWE star Brock Lesnar instead of Jon Jones

STIPE MIOCIC believes '100 per cent' he should be asked to fight WWE star Brock Lesnar instead of Jon Jones.

Lesnar, 43, a former UFC heavyweight champion, sparked rumours he could make a fighting return having not re-signed with the WWE.

UFC president Dana White admitted he would welcome back the pro wrestler to potentially face Jones, after two-time light heavyweight champion, 33, moved up in weight.

But current heavyweight king Miocic, 37, is adamant he should be the man to face pay-per-view attraction Lesnar if he decides to fight again.

He said on Michael Bisping's Believe You Me podcast: “A hundred per cent I think so.

“Listen, I just think about it more and more I do think 100 per cent if anything I would get the Brock Lesnar fight first or be asked first.

"I didn’t know [Jones] called the shots. I didn’t know that.”

Lesnar first retired from fighting in 2011, before making a sensational return four years ago to face Mark Hunt at UFC 200.

But his comeback win was chalked off and changed to a no-contest after Lesnar failed a pre and post-fight drug test.

He was on the verge of challenging Daniel Cormier for the heavyweight belt last year, but opted to re-sign with the WWE.

Despite his controversial UFC past it would not stop promoter White from singing him once more.

He said: "If [Jones and Lesnar] both want to fight each other, I'm sure it's a fight the fans want to see and it would be a good introduction for Jones into the heavyweight division.

"So, yeah if they both wanted to do it, I would it."
