Tottenham fans hit back after being mocked over 'only place to watch Champions League in London' banner
Spurs were mocked over a billboard that showed a picture of their new stadium alongside the caption: "the only place to watch Champions League in London."
Both Arsenal and Chelsea taunted Tottenham over the advert as it appeared Mauricio Pochettino's men were crashing out of the competition at the first hurdle.
But a victory against Inter Milan followed by a crucial draw at Barcelona on Tuesday was enough to scrape through at the expense of the Italian side.
Lucas Moura scored an 85th minute equaliser at the Nou Camp while Inter could only match their 1-1 scoreline at home to PSV Eindhoven.
Tottenham fans wasted no time in gloating and were quick to point out that the advert could be correct after all.
The club are hoping to move into their new stadium in February.
One fan said: "Only one tram in London still in the Champions League white hart Lane awaits. Leavy get the posters out."
Another simply said: "Get them posters back out…"
A jubilant Spurs fan added: "The only place to watch Champions League in London campaign is BACK ON!!!"
On Sunday Spurs are set to host 6,000 fans – picked through a Willy Wonka-style ballot – for a tour of the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
They hoped to host their first game at the new stadium against Manchester United on January 13.
But it appears increasingly bleak as they struggle to attain the necessary safety certificates to get the final green light.
