Tottenham fans go wild as Spurs reach Champions League final with stunning comeback just 24 hours after Liverpool miracle

SPURS fans went wild tonight as Tottenham soared through to the Champions League final with a stunning comeback – just one day after Liverpool's spectacular win.

Fans spilled out into the streets of Amsterdam to celebrate hammering in three goals against Ajax to secure them a place in the all-English final.

Others danced in boozers in North London as they inched closer to ending their 11-year dry spell.

Photos show stunned supporters chucking beer in the air in packed pubs after Lucas Moura slammed the ball into the back of the net in the 95th minute.

His incredible hat-trick saw Spurs beat Ajax 3-3 on aggregate – coming back from 2-0 down at half-time.

They are the first team to come from two goals behind in a Champions League semi-final since Manchester United in 1999 against Juventus.

And it wasn't just fans going into a meltdown over the win – Tottenham legends also couldn't contain their excitement.

Glenn Hoddle, who made more than 400 appearances for the club over 12 seasons, jumped in the air and cheered alongside rio Ferdinand from the BT Sport punditry box.

The footballer, who had a heart attack on his 61st birthday seven months ago, was asked by Gary Lineker if he was "ok".

He replied: "Yeah, I’m fine. I’ve never been happier.

"I’m so glad that I’m still around to see this. I’ve been a Spurs fan since I was eight years of age, what a proud moment that was."

Lineker replied: "I’m so glad you’re here to enjoy it with us."

He later added on Twitter: "I love my job. What a delight and a privilege to have witnessed 2 of the greatest comebacks in the history of the beautiful game.

"Absolutely magical. Well played @SpursOfficial. Well played."

The excitement was echoed by manager Mauricio Pochettino, who broke down in tears when he realised the team was going through.

Speaking after the game, he said: "The emotion is amazing, thank you to football. My players are heroes – in the last year I was telling everyone this group are heroes.

"The second half they were amazing. Thank you football – this type of emotion without football is no possible. Thank you to everyone who has believed in us. To describe this in words is difficult."

The spectacular win came just 24 hours after Liverpool overturned a 3-0 defeat in the first leg to beat Barcelona 4-3 on aggregate at Anfield.

And the similarities didn't go unnoticed by football fans on Twitter – with even Kensington Palace getting in on the act.

Prince William, writing on the Palace Twitter account, said: "Two English teams in the Champions League final! Congratulations Spurs on yet another incredible comeback."

David Lammy, the Labour MP for Tottenham said: "For the first time in my life I'm completely speechless with total joy.' Later saying he was 'completely bouncing off the walls".

He also jokingly begged Jeremy Corbyn to "make sure Theresa May doesn't call another vote" on the day of the Champions League final.

The Labour leader also got in on the action, tweeting: "Even an Arsenal fan can appreciate the astonishing performances over the last two nights.

"Two underdogs defying the odds to set up an all English Champions League Final. Congratulations and good luck to both teams in the final."

Thousands of Brits will now travel to Madrid for the final on June 1 at the 68,000-capacity Wanda Metropolitano stadium.

Tottenham reached the quarter finals of the Champions League in 2010-11 and won the trophy when it was called the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1963.

They have suffered over the past decade but fans and ex-players now believe a trophy is finally in sight after tonight's performance.

Former midfielder Jermaine Jenas said: "It is the best night in the club's history."

While crocked striker Harry Kane is now "hopeful" of being fit for the Champions League final after suffering an ankle injury.

He said: "I'm a fan first and foremost and I know how much it means to the club."It was a disappointing first half and we let them play. I went into the dressing room at half-time and we knew it [the performance] wasn't good enough. We said we had 45 minutes to give everything.

"The lads dug deep and showed passion and that is all you can ask for. We had to wait to get the third in the last minute and we found a way. That's what football is about and we have the final to come."
