Tottenham conceded most goals in Premier League after Arsenal smash four past rivals in derby

Mauricio Pochettino’s men went down 4-2 at the Emirates and slipped to fifth in the table – one point behind the Gunners – as well as hitting an unfortunate landmark.

Shipping four to their great rivals meant that Spurs have now conceded more Premier League goals than any other team.

In the wake of strikes by Alexandre Lacazette, Lucas Torreira and a brace by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Lillywhites have now let in 1,282 goals in the top flight since 1992.

This puts them ahead of Everton by a solitary goal – the Toffees having conceded 1,281 in the same period.

West Ham United come next with 1,236 goals conceded, despite having spent four seasons in the Championship, while Newcastle are on 1,206 having been out of the top flight for three terms.

Aston Villa are in fifth spot on the list with 1,186 goals, having slipped out of the Premier League in 2016, while Southampton have shipped 1,048 goals in 20 seasons.

Of the sides that have been in the Premier League since its inception, Spurs and Everton lay comfortably ahead at the top of the goals-against list.

Liverpool are the next leakiest ever-present side with 1,029 goals, followed by Arsenal and Chelsea on 980 and 974 goals respectively – putting them 7th, 8th and 9th on the full list.

Current champions Manchester City complete the top 10 with 958 goals conceded – though they have only been present in 22 of the Premier League’s 27 seasons.

Spurs can take solace from the fact that they are in fifth spot on the ‘Premier league goals scored’ list with 1,505 – a long way ahead of City, who lie in seventh, having netted 1,322 times.

The north Londoners will look to bounce back from their derby defeat when they take on struggling Southampton at Wembley on Wednesday.
