Below is a breakdown of the Maple Leafs-Red Wings gambling odds with sports betting tips on the moneyline, spread (puck line) and over/under, along with suggested bets.
The Leafs are coming off a 7-3 thrashing at home Thursday at the hands of the Tampa Bay Lightning, and they’ve been outscored 10-5 in the past two outings against Stanley Cup contenders.
The Wings have been surprising, firing out of the chute with three wins in four tries, outscoring opponents 14-11. The lone setback was a 3-1 loss against the Anaheim Ducks Oct. 8.
Maple Leafs at Red Wings: Projected starting goalies
Frederik Andersen vs. Jimmy Howard
Andersen has coughed up 10 goals over the past two appearances against the Blues and Lightning. He was a winner in his only appearances on the road so far, as 4-1 victory against the Columbus Blue Jackets Oct. 4. As favorites of -160 or higher, Andersen has steered the Leafs to a 2-0 record.
Howard has registered a 1-1-0 record with a 3.09 GAA and .915 save percentage across his pair of starts. He shined in the opener in Nashville Oct. 5, but owns the team’s only loss in between the pipes, the 3-1 setback against Anaheim.

Moneyline : The Maple Leafs (-200) are due for a win, and their offense will get them past the feisty and upstart Red Wings. However, it’s not a wise decision to risk $200 to win $100, or a return on investment of just half your stake.
Spread : The MAPLE LEAFS (-1.5, +135) are a much better value at plus money on the puck line. The Red Wings (+1.5, -162) aren’t a recommended play, as Toronto has won five of its past seven visits to Detroit, and nine of the past 12 meetings overall.
Over/Under : The OVER 6.5 (+110) gives you a plus-money return, and is a great play. The over has hit in four of the past five meetings and is 8-2 in the past 10 for Toronto as a favorite.
