Solskjaer confident Man Utd star Pogba will be cheered by fans despite dropping transfer bombshell this summer – The Sun

OLE SOLSKJAER BELIEVES there will be no fan backlash against Paul Pogba when the season starts.

The wantaway record buy and his agent have been pushing for a move all summer with Real Madrid trying to negotiate a deal.

But with the Spanish giants valuing him at £90million and Manchester United wanting double that it does not appear that a deal is going to be done.

That means he will be starting the season at home to Chelsea as a United player.

And Solskjaer said: “I think our fans know what Paul has given the club and what he can give us and of course there is a loud small minority.

“But Paul has been an absolutely top individual and me and the players would testify to that, he's never been a problem and we're just grateful he performs as well as he does.”

The other problem Solskjaer has is Romelu Lukaku who is also the subject of a possible move to Inter Milan.

He has not played a game in on the tour due to a knock picked up in training and will be absent again tomorrow for the match against Spurs in Shanghai.

Given the intensity of the training and the front foot style Solskjaer has been trying to instil in the players, he admits Lukaku will be playing catch up come the start of the season.

“Of course it's never nice to be a player who misses out on important fitness work and team understanding and tactical approach, so he'll just have to make up later on then,” he said.

United have won each of their three pre-season games so far on this tour of Australia and the Far East and believes another win against Spurs will strengthen the foundations for a good start to the season.

He said: “I think it's important that we start well, you give yourself a chance then if you have a good start.

“It feels like a new start, we want to find a style on the front foot and it's easier in pre-season to do that than in the middle.

“We spoke about this over the last six months and we're laying a foundation physically and mentally and the tour's been very good as a team building one as well.”
