Snooker World Championship 2019: How many frames are there in a game?

SNOOKER'S best stars have descended on the Crucible for the start of the World Snooker Championships.

The tournament is held over two weeks and here is all you need to know about the frames…

When is the tournament?

THE competition will take place between Saturday, April 20 and Monday May 6. 

There will be three sessions on most of the days throughout the tournament – morning (10am), afternoon (2.30pm) and evening (7pm).

Who is the current champion?

MARK WILLIAMS is the reigning champion at the Crucible having beaten John Higgins in 2018. 

It was his third world title and after winning the title, he appeared naked in the press conference after making a promise to reporters earlier in the tournament that if he won he would do that.

How many frames are there in a game?

THE number of frames depends on which round the game is in.

Round one is the best of 19 frames – meaning it is the first to get to 10 wins.

The games between round 2 and the quarter-finals are the best of 25 and the semi-finals are the best of 33.

The final has the largest amount of frames with it being the best of 35.
