'Shut up!' – Watch Burnley team-mates Weghorst and Roberts clash after Holland striker's late winner against Wales | The Sun

BURNLEY team-mates Connor Roberts and Wout Weghorst were involved in a heated exchange after the latter bagged the winner for the Netherlands against Wales last night.

The club mates met on the international stage as their countries did battle in the Nations League.

Rhys Norrington-Davies thought he'd grabbed a point for the home side when he scored in the 92nd minute, only for Weghorst to steal the spoils with a 94th minute effort.

Full-back Roberts was visibly fuming upon the final whistle, taking a pop at his club mate.

With Weghorst fist pumping to himself, Roberts scuttled up to him before appearing to ask: "Why didn't you do that for Burnley?"

The burly 6ft 6in forward brushed off the full-back before turning round and having a dig back.

Weghorst, 29, appeared to shout: "This isn't about Burnley. Shut up!"

The striker was signed for £12million from Wolfsburg in January to replace the outgoing Chris Wood.

But he couldn't prevent Burnley from getting relegated, scoring just twice in 20 appearances.

Clarets fans online appeared to love Roberts' outburst.

One wrote: "Connor Roberts asking Weghorst why he didn’t do that for Burnley, give him the armband."

Another added: "Roberts very legitimately asking Weghorst 'why don’t you do that for Burnley?' after his last minute winner against Wales. First time I’ve seen WW connect with a header all year."

A third commented: "Roberts is right though. Shows WW couldn't be bothered enough when playing for us and now thinks he’s too big for Burnley. Poor character…"

Weghorst has admitted that he doesn't expect to stay at Burnley next season – despite being under contract for another three years.

He told Voetbal International: "We have clearly agreed in advance that I will not play in the Championship.

"The club would like to keep me and will do everything they can to return to the Premier League as soon as possible.
