Roberto Bautista Agut WITHDRAWS from Wimbledon after becoming third men's singles star to test positive for Covid | The Sun

ROBERTO BAUTISTA AGUT has pulled out of Wimbledon after testing positive for Covid.

The Spaniard, 34, was the No17 seed at this summer's SW19 and was due to play Daniel Galan in his second-round match on Thursday,

But he now becomes the third men's singles star to pull out of the 2022 Grand Slam with Covid.

Bautista Agut joins former Wimbledon finalists Marin Cilic and Matteo Berrettini in being forced to withdraw.

The Spanish veteran confirmed the sad news on Instagram.

He wrote: "Sadly today I have notified Wimbledon of my withdrawal from the competition.

"Yesterday I started not feeling very well and I tested positive for Covid-19.

"Symptoms are not very serious, but I think this is the best decision.

"Thank you all for your support always. I hope to be back on court soon."

Bautista-Agut stormed past Attila Balazs in the first-round.

The experienced ace thumped the Hungarian 6-1 6-0 6-3.

The win saw him set up a second-round clash with Colombian star Galan – who had beaten German Dominik Koepfer in straight sets in the first round.

Galan has now been handed a walkover and will progress to the third round.
